For all of us who teach Doonya, dance is our first love. Everything from choreographing to teaching to performing is fueled by an intense passion. That's why it was such an amazing experience collaborating with Deepica Mutyala -- a woman who is fiercely passionate about everything she works on.
From her work changing the media and beauty industries to be inclusive of ALL people, her work as a host on red carpets, or just from watching her be a loving daughter and sister, we jumped at the opportunity to help Deepica create a dance for her sister's wedding.
Deepica danced when she was young, but it's been a while since she has been on stage. To get performance-ready, Deepica worked with Kajal through Doonya's online choreography program and did a few in-person sessions in Houston.
The result: SHE KILLED IT! Deepica, her sister and cousins performed a beautiful medley of songs that paid tribute to her family.
One of the songs that Deepica chose is Ghoomar from the film Padmavati // Padmaavat!
